Description: The foundation was laid in 1932 when the father of Tomás Esteban planted the family's first 10 hectares of vines in the town of Roa. At the beginning, the Esteban Cristóbal family produced grapes for other wineries, but in 1997, aware of their excellent prime material, they decided to devote themselves to the wine making process. Today, the winery is led by the third generation of brothers Juan and Ricardo Esteban, who have pushed the estate to the forefront of the natural wine movement in Spain. They were early pioneers of organic and biodynamic farming, shunning synthetic chemicals in favor of lunar-cycle pruning and natural composts. Their "minimal intervention" philosophy extends into the cellar, where they use gravity-fed systems and spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts to ensure the wine in the bottle is a pure, unadulterated reflection of the Duero terroir.
