The Dão is one of Portugal’s oldest and most complex regions, defined by the granite peaks of the Serra da Estrela. Here, vines endure a dramatic climate from thick winter snow to the baking summer sun. This struggle gives the Prunus its unmistakable personality and elegance. Gota Wines was founded by Natalia Jessa, who sought to capture this rugged terroir through indigenous grapes like Jaen and Tinta Roriz. The name "Prunus" pays homage to the Dão’s other famous bounty: the succulent Cova da Beira cherries. These fruits are so revered that they inspire massive local festivals. This wine was crafted to match that expression-light, elegant, and reminiscent of those beloved red cherries. Aged six months in oak, it delivers a fresh, silky softness that captivates and seduces. Perfect for picnics or roasted pork, it is a soulful, mineral driven red that represents the very best of Portuguese winemaking.
Food Pairing: Fatty meat cuts, blue cheese/hard cheese, tacos, BBQ, etc.
