Description: The founding steps of their winery were laid by Rosi and Franz Schuster in the late 1970s. Rosi graduated from viticulture school in Eisenstadt and was subsequently working at her parents winery in Sankt Margarethen, Burgenland. Franz was a professor for cellar management in Eisenstadt and decided to merge his vineyards to the newly created family winery. Currently their son, Hannes has taken over the winemaking duties. Hannes has restructured the vineyards, converted them to organic farming placing his main focus on the native grape varieties; Blaufränkisch and Sankt Laurent. Burgenland, one of Europe’s oldest and most exciting region and its geological foundation of the Pannonian basin, shaped by its soft rolling hills stands at the core of his vision. "Indigenous varieties help translate this origin and allow me to bottle true reflections of the region." - Hannes Schuster.
An eminently drinkable blend of Rotburger, Blaufrankisch and Sankt Laurent full of all the bright fruit, lift and verve. Hannes, son of Rosi Schuster's Aus Den Dorfern (from the villages) is a transparent expression of the terroir of Sankt Margarethen, Rust and Zagersdorf. Here you will find soils ranging from heavy loam to sandstone, gravel and limestone. Tons of minerality, taut acidity with tons of juicy cherry and soft but present tensile tannins.
