Description: Created from tiny Vignoles grapes, a hybrid invented by a French scientist for American viticulture in the early 19th century. The 2016 offers a bouquet of elderflower blossoms, caramelized apples and pears, with a long finish of peach pits. The palate is off-dry and rich with racy acidity that keeps the sweetness from becoming cloying. In 1988, after nearly 37 years of growing and selling grapes, the Stamp family founded Lakewood Vineyards winery and began producing wines from their sprawling vineyards by Seneca Lake. They practice sustainable farming, including composting, mulching and cover crops.
Food pairing: Spicy foods, pates, fruit salad, cheeses, alone, etc.
