Product description

Description: Ridge Estate has been making exceptional single-vineyard wines since 1892. They've meticulously searched for those rare and exceptional vineyards where climate, soil, and variety are ideally matched. The first Geysersville Zinfandel was made in 1966, it's the most complex and age-worthy Zinfandel blend that Ridge produces. Paul Draper is known throughout the world as a top producer of great natural wines. Paul Draper has recently step down as head winemaker. However, most of his team have been in place for over 20 plus years. Geyserville is a traditional field blend of zinfandel and its complementary varieties: Carignane, Petite Sirah, and Mataro (mourvedre). Each vintage is unique, distinct, extraordinary… yet they do have elements in common. The 2019 and 2020 vintage our fairly similar, both our excellent profiles of the Geyserville Zinfandel with power and elegance exuding from the glass. The 2020 is purple and burgundy in color with aromas of cocoa, vanilla-bean, currants, and hint of nutmeg. The palate is full-bodied with polished sweet and slightly gripping tannins upfront. Excellent alcohol and acid balance with notes of cocoa, red velvet, nutmeg, and blackberries.

Food pairings: Cheese (manchego, mature cheddar, sheep milk, etc.), game, meat (grilled, stewed), mushrooms, oxtails, paté, grilled poultry, grilled vegetables, etc.
