Description: Castello delle Regine owns a 1000 acres in Umbria, between Narni and Amelia. 200+ acres of vineyards and around 7,000 olive trees (some more than 100 yrs old). The clay soils that produce the wines of Castello delle Regine were studied attentively before the vineyards were renewed, beginning in 1998. The north-south exposure and a planting density of up to 5000 vines per acre result in very low yields, which helps concentrates the complexity. The wines, therefore, are a full and authentic expression of the terroir and typicity. The structure requires a few years of maturation in their cellars before it is released to the public.
