Description: Established in 1890 by five families from Rioja and the Basque region. They joined together and founded "Sociedad Vinicola de La Rioja Alta" in Haro's Station district. Dona Saturnina Garcia Cid y Garate was their first female president. Monsieur Vigier was hired as the winemaker from France. La Rioja Alta S.A. is a renowned wine estate that has won international awards throughout their illustrious history. The Vina Arana shows a deep garnet color from the center to the rim. Aromas of saddle leather, oak, and cocoa powder. On the palate the wine displays a good medium weight with dusty tannins throughout the length of the palate. Red currants, saddle leather and balsamic sit above a layer of iron-ore. Burnt-orange and a touch of balsamic is present on the finish.
