Product description

Description: The estate is owned and farmed by Claire and Mike Allan, two experienced winemakers in their own right. Claire was at Corbans and Lawson's Dry Hills and Mike at Cloudy Bay and Vavasour. They also both did a vintage in Champagne at Veuve Cliquot and Taittinger respectively. The vineyard is situated in Marlborough’s Rapaura district on what is known as the “Golden Mile”. This is one of Marlborough’s premium sites with its free draining alluvial silt and undulating stony nature, close to the Wairau River and the Richmond Range. The Sauvignon Blanc off this vineyard typically has riper tropical notes than the cooler areas of Marlborough. The undulating stony nature and the mix of richer silts creates a medley of flavors.

"There's a slight green edge to the nose of the 2020 Sauvignon Blanc—something along the lines of chili pepper, mint and lime zest—plus hints of tropical fruit and pink grapefruit. Concentrated and flavorful, this medium-bodied effort is gently silky in texture, with terrific length on the mouthwatering, citrusy finish. Probably the best vintage of this wine I've tasted since I began reviewing New Zealand wines in 2000." -Wine Advocate (4/2021).

Food pairings: Appetizers, asparagus - risotto, basil, fried chicken, chiles, cilantro inspired dishes, fish, herb-inspired dishes, oysters, grilled pork, seafood, salads, goat cheese, chevre, veggies, etc.
