Description: Founded in 1761, Borgogno is the oldest continuously operating winery in Barolo. A major revitalization came in the 1920's when Cesare Borgogno took the reins, expanded production, and started shipping bottles far beyond the Italian border. Cesare also began hoarding Barolo—in the best way. Half of every vintage was tucked away in a massive cellar vault, only to be unleashed two decades later. The new owners, in 2008 brought new energy with an organic conversion and a bold return to fermenting in cement vats, just like the good old days. The entire operation still runs from a subterranean cellar in the heart of the village of Barolo . ”Era ora” means “ ‘bout time”. For over 200 years Borgogno had only produced red wine. Era Ora Riesling was the first white they started to make. It's a German Riesling clone (not an Austrian or Italian clone). Chosen for it's aging potential, in this way it seen like a barolo, a serious wine and one that will develop and evolve with time. It's in a very specific location called Madonna Di Coumo, located in between Barbaresco and Barolo. They were very proud of the specific soil composition and exposure.

Food Pairing: Fish dishes (tuna, canned mackerel, pike, monk fish), oysters, shellfish, goat cheese, blue cheese, foie gras in crust, Alsatian choucroute, smoked salmon, sushi, crawfish, Cajun cuisine, seafood stews, ceviche, chicken tikka masala, etc.
