Description: Gilles Gasq has worked closely with Paul Jeune, the proprietor of renowned Domaine Monpertuis in Chateauneuf-du-Pape for many years. Located in Southern Rhone outside of Travaillan on hard limestone pebbles. The domaine focuses on Cotes du Rhone designation but recently started a project consisting of 100% Carignan.
The Le Carignan has aromas that are reminiscent of smoke and animal musk. The palate reveals earth tones of loam and granite with a layer of wild cherry and red raspberry fruit. Medium-bodied with good acid/alcohol balance.
Food Pairings: Grilled or cured meats, cassoulet, duck, manchego, rabbit, grilled mahi or salmon, etc.
