Description: Helderberg is the coolest wine-growing area in Stellenbosch due to its proximity to the ocean. Overlooking False Bay and comprised of shale and weathered granite, the three attributes perfect for Sauvignon Blanc. Vergelegen, Waterkloof, and Journey’s End are some of the best wine estates that neighbor Highberry vineyards.
Werner Engelbrecht , one of South Africa’s celebrated winemakers (Waterkloof, Avondale, and Vinfruco), is one of the founding team members of this new but upcoming high-quality wine estates.
Excellent pale-straw color with a slight greenish hue. Aromas of cilantro, flint, and mineral stone are prevalent. On the palate the wine exhibits a spicy overlay surrounded by subtle gooseberry, brine, and cantaloupe. The texture is softer than many Sauvignon Blancs due to being unfiltered.
