Description: Dominus means "Lord Of The Estate" in Latin. In the late 1960's, Christian Moueix fell in love with Napa Valley and its wines. Son of Jean-Pierre Moueix, the famed wine producer from Libourne, France. Christian returned home in 1970 to manage the family vineyards including Chateau Petrus, La Fleur-Petrus, Trotanoy in Pomerol and Chateau Magdelaine in Saint Emilion. All the aforementioned chateaus have been at the top of their game for the last 15 to 30 years. In 1981, Christian Moueix decided to purchase the historic Napanook Vineyard, a vineyard in Yountville that had been the source of fruit for some of the finest Napa Valley wines of the 40's and 50's. 2009 was an ideal season, mild spring with few temperature fluctuations contributed to even bud break and healthy bloom. The Wine Advocate wrote, "The 2009 Dominus flows from the glass with layers of highly expressive fruit. The wine possesses stunning richness, power, and depth. Dark red fruit, tobacco, flowers, and spices are woven into a seamless, beautifully articulated finish. Elegance and intensity are in perfect harmony here." - 97pts. Wine Advocate
