Description: John told us “Once you taste this wine, you will look at North Fork in a different light.” For a years we were not convinced by the quality of Long Island wines. But John was right. We fell in love with his red immediately. It exhibits balance, elegance, finesse of the old-world combined with liveliness and fruit from the new-world. For more than fifteen years John Leo has been tending grapes and making wine on the East End of Long Island, focusing on sustainable, hands-on, attentive vine growing. Only in the best years do they bottle and label the wine “Leo Family.” Made from a combination of the North Fork’s finest grape varieties including Merlot, Malbec, and Cabernet Franc, it is aged for 17 months in French oak in 30% new oak barrels.
Food Pairing: Turkey, red meats, game, charcuterie, hard cheese, etc.
