The heart of Monte del Frà is located in the village of Custoza on the morainic hills of Lake Garda, only 15km from Verona. The first records of Monte del Frà are to be found in the Capitolare, the historic library in Verona, and date back to 1492 when the winery was owned by monks of the Santa Maria della Scala order in Verona. Notarial deeds show that the winery was then rented out to various different families; today Monte del Frà belongs to the Bonomo family, who farm 140 hectares in Custoza and Della Valpolicella.
