Product description

Description: The estate is located in the valley of Montosoli, north of Montalcino of Tuscany. Generally, they produce 2 wines each year, which are the Rosso di Montalcino and a Brunello di Montalcino. While the single-vineyard Madonna Del Piano is produced only in the very best year. The grapes for this flagship wine come from some of the oldest vines on the property, which were planted in 1970. The vineyards cover approximately 28 hectares of the Valdicava estate. They are splited into 9 different vineyards scattered around the site, which is one of the coldest in the Brunello zone. The grapes from the vineyards Poggio, Pievecchina, Pratea and Sferracavallo are reserved for the Brunello di Montalcino. The history of the Valdicava has started since 1953, when Bramante Abbruzzese started the family vision to cultivate Sangiovese Grosso and eventually bottle the wines under his family name. Today, the winemaker and owner is Vincenzo Abbruzzese, who is well known for improving the quality of Valdicava's wines.

"Absolutely stunning aromas of nectarine, orange peel, sweet black cherry, plums and flowers. Licorice and mushroom It's full body, with layers of ultra-fine tannins and hints of tangy acidity. Such beautiful length and beauty to this wine. It's powerful and structured yet shows a gorgeous finesse and length. Truly wondrous. So long and refined. The texture is phenomenal." -100pts. James Suckling

"Effusive aromas of incense, green olive, sweet strawberry and cherry, licorice and leather mark this structured version. The tannins are on the beefy side, but this finishes long, with enough fruit and spice for balance. *Collectible*" - Wine Spectator 96pts.
