The island of Sardegna has its own style of vermentino, steadily gaining in prestige and quality for the last 40 years since the establishment of its DOC and DOCG status.
Alberto Loi's example is a beautiful rendition, crisp, elegant and poignant. Intense and complex on the nose, it has a wide range of fruity and floral aromas: white flowers blended to the soft notes of spice and dried fruit. On the palette, it is clean and well constructed, dry, mineral and steely with a nod to the nearby Mediterranean Sea; intense and persistent. Lengthy refreshing finish.
The Loi family has been making wine for a hundred years passing the art from father to son. Now the third and fourth generations work together cultivating their hilly homeland.
Food Pairings: Seafood, fresh or cured fish, Sushi, Spaghetti alla Vongole, Scallops, as an aperitif, dishes with lemon or lemon peel, basil and olive oil, White meats, Pork chops, Fresh cheeses, Burratta,etc.
