Grape: 100% Chenin Blanc. Region: South Africa> Western Cape> Simonsberg-Stellenbosch. Notes: Single Vineyard, 33 year old vines, French oak (9 months, 20% new), sustainably farmed.
Description: Remhoogte is a family owned and operated estate. Chris Boustred took over from his dad, Murray Boustred. They produce high quality wines that represent traditional winemaking and quality. The Chenin Blanc comes from one single vineyard of old vines; it the best location from their estate. Wild and/or naturally occurring yeast are only allowed to ferment, then matured in French oak.
This winemaking style leads to a rich, medium to full-bodied white wine with delicate, balanced flavors. White peach, apricot and honeysuckle are expressed on the nose. The palate opens to a brioche like sweetness, stone fruit, and a creamy mouthfeel that finishes dry and slightly pungent.
Food pairings: Goat cheeses, pork, dried fruit and cheese, figs, scallops, lobster, whitefish with cream sauces, lamb, Indian cuisine, etc.
