Description: In 1954 Giuseppe Bensa decided to purchase some plots of land to make wine. In 1985, sons Giorgio and Nicolo chose to dedicate their heart and soul to wine growing and establishing the La Castellad estate. Working with 25 to 50 year old vines and low yields to achieve optimal ripening and concentration. Together with the cool breezy air from the Julian Alps and the Adriatic sea, create a microclimate that allows them to make spectacular, age-worthy wines with great territorial expression.
This is 2003 (tasted on 9/2/20), a gorgeous, mature Sauvignon blanc that will charm the greatest wine critics. Deep golden-amber color with aromas of honey, toasted hazelnut, and apricots. The wine still exhibits a good level of acidity offering structure and nerve. Deep layers of toasted hazelnut on top of apricot and papaya. This is a wine that doesn't need decanting, Pour, seal the bottle, enjoy, open again and enjoy.
