Description: Omen Wines, a project of Alexandre Remy (usually a California producer), is named for an abandoned monastery that sits atop one of their vineyards. Omen produces lush, round and ripe wines; their Pinot Noir is from Oregon’s southernmost region on California’s border: Rogue Valley. High altitude, cool nights, and desert dryness in this warm region give this pinot full ripeness. The Winemaking emphasizes the layered fruit. Big, broad flavors of cranberry, pineapple, baking spices, vanilla and toast deliver plenty of pleasure. Complex, dark, cheery aromas on the nose. More gaminess and earthiness may show with age.
Food Pairings: Lamb, barbecue, pizza, any pork, charcuterie, etc.
