Description: Omen Wines, a project of Alexandre Remy (usually a California producer), is named for an abandoned monastery that sits atop one of his vineyards. Omen produces lush, round and ripe wines; their Pinot Noir is from Oregon’s southernmost region on California’s border: Rogue Valley. High altitude, cool nights, and desert dryness in this warm region give this Pinot full ripeness. The winemaking emphasizes the layered fruit. Complex, black cherry, cumin aromas on the nose. Light-bodied on the palate with big, broad flavors of cranberry, cherry, baking spices, vanilla and toasted oak. More gaminess and earthiness may show with age.
Food Pairings: Lamb, barbecue, pizza, any pork, charcuterie, etc.
