Description: The Windisch family has lived in the village of Mommenheim as far back as 1780. In 1920 Fritz Windisch was the first to start estate-bottling wine in the 1920's. Now his son Guenter carries on the family tradition. Typical Vineyard soils are Loess which can be considered the most parent rock in this area. This Riesling is from the Bereich Auflangen vineyard where the soils are well-drained and iron rich. The climate is milder creating a longer growing season which helps develop the flavonoids and polyphenols. Aromas of sweet tropical and orchard fruit characteristics. On the palate the wine exhibits a nice balance of fruit and sweetness. Good acid tone keeps the wine from becoming cloying with a round mouthfeel and a touch of flint and stone fruit.
