Grape: 100% Riesling
Region: Germany> Rheinhessen> Nierstein> Pettenthal.
Notes: Red Slate composite in the Pettenthal vineyard site.
Description: Walter Strub and his son Sebastian are crafting transparent, pure expressions of Riesling on slopes along the Rhine River in Nierstein. The Strub family has been making wine in Germany’s Rheinhessen region since 1710.
The Pattenthal bottling is light-bodied and slightly sweeter than off-dry. Crisp acidity and mineral stone from the red slate soil. Lemon-citrus character upfront that has a linear feel as it races across the palate to the long, stone and quartz-like finish. Very good wine for Asian food or white fish.
Food pairings: Asian cuisine, ceviche, soft cheeses, duck, fruit salads, baked ham, prosciutto and bacon, scallops, etc.
