Description: Founded in 2014 as a Bonded Distillery whose focus is on Bourbon, Rye, and Gin. Independent and family-owned has allowed New Riff to set high-quality standards without the pressure of appeasing corporate influence. New Riff source non-GMO grains and use mineral-rich water from an aquifer below the distillery. Slow and open fermentation produces a high quality sour mash, and finally cooper distilling only makes a great Rye whiskey.
The Rye character is subtle and not overpowering. Smooth with a nice bite without the burn. Cream soda, spice, and peach cobbler character along the mid-palate. Good balanced note of charred oak in the background.
American Rye: American Rye: A whiskey distilled from at least 51% rye. Must be aged in charred, new oak barrels (mainly American Oak). In order to be classified as a American “Straight” Rye whiskey it has to be aged for at least two years.
