Description: In 2002 the Vivera family finally realized their dream to purchase a wine estate. Just as in great love stories, it didn’t take much for them to understand that the place they were searching for was right before their eyes on Contrada Martinella, of Etna, Sicily. An ancient vineyard, unused for years, with dry stone walls and lava stone stairs. 9Km between water (Ionian Sea) and fire (Mount Etna), there lies the ideal soil for organic farming: healthy and constantly cooled by the wind that comes from the volcano and from the sea. Mount Etna’s elevation, volcanic soi,l and proximity to the sea creates the perfect conditions for creating the unique and elegant Vivera wines.
The wine exhibits garnet color, transparent at the center, light ruby red at the rim. Exudes aromas of smoked meat, roasted garlic, and cherry compote. On the palate, this wine is all about terroir, driven by volcanic ash, black trumpet mushroom and root bitters. This is all layered on top of the red currant fruit character.
Food Pairing: Game meats, venison, beef tenderloin, garlic, mushrooms, charcuterie, wild boar, grilled vegetables, eggplant, lamb, lasagna, pizza, mushroom sauces, etc.
