Description: Much larger than the prestigious Hermitage appellation, which it surrounds, Crozes-Hermitage is an appellation in the northern Rhone valley. Croze-Hermitage produces mostly rich red wines from the Syrah varietal. Aromas of cured bacon fat, chocolate raspberry ganache. There is a fleshy start to the palate layers of baking spices, animal musk, ganache, and dried cranberries. Pierre-Jean Villa joined the super star winemaking trio (Cuilleron, Villard, Gailard) of Les Vins de Vienne, until he created his own domaine in 2009 and began his new life as a wine grower.
