Description: Ripe aromas of currant and blackberry with well-integrated tannins. Cherry, earth and an herbal nuance. Soft mouthfeel where red fruit predominates, with sweet and sour flavors on the finish.
Starting in 1857, the father of modern California Viticulture, collected 100,000 grape cuttings from France, Italy, Germany, and Spain. Some of those first vineyards surround Hacienda and is currently considered a historic landmark. Steven MacRostie joined Hacienda as winemaker in 1974 and then took a gold medal at the Sonoma County Harvest Fair for the Chardonnay the following. Quality wine, Sonoma, and the Hacienda label have been synonymous ever since.
