Brunello di Montalcino 2015 Azienda Tornesi 750ml

Description: The Tornesi family has owned their estate, known as Le Benducce, since 1750, long before Brunello di Montalcino became known as a wine, before Italy became a unified nation. The vineyards are 400 meters above sea-level and has proven advantageous in terms of drainage and soil composition to grower Maurizio Tornesi, his father Gino, and consulting oenologist Paolo Vagaggini. The winery is still family operated, with Maurizio Tornesi at the helm of both viticulture and winemaking. A true Tuscan farmer who knows the land of Montalcino and the Sangiovese Grosso grape like the back of his hand.

Clear garnet color with brickish-red hue along the rim. Aromas of iron-ore, saddle leather, and red fruit. On palate reveals dusty tannins that are moving towards integration and a silky mouthfeel. Excellent acid/ alcohol balance with mid-palate notes of mineral iron, cherry compote, garrigue, and mature balsam. This wine will continue to evolve for a long time but we find it very approachable now. Revealing just enough to compliment a pleasurable evening dinner.

Food pairings: Aged cheeses (Gouda, Asiago, Pecorino), roasted duck, game, lamb chops, mushrooms, oxtails, etc.
