Grape: 100% Zweigelt Region: Austria> Velm-Goetzendorf Notes: Bio-dynamic certified since 2013. Natural wine, spontaneous fermentation. Vegan-friendly. Clay amphora. Extended lees contact.
Description: In the idyllic eastern Austrian countryside, Johannes Zillinger, and his father before him, have made wine with minimal intervention in harmony with the habitat where they live & work. Bio-dynamics is a way of life - interspersed with the rows of grapevines, herbs are planted both as natural pesticides and to make tinctures. These wines appeal both to the minimal intervention/all-natural wine crowd as well as the mainstream wine-drinking public.
Excellent balance of fruit and terroir with well-integrated structural tannins, light to medium bodied. Bright cherries and berries, juicy and spicy, perfect length. A great representation of Zweigelt.
Food pairing: sausages, hard charcuterie, fatty meats, game, vegetable terrine, grilled asparagus/sauteed green peas, etc.
