Description: Jurtschitsch is one of the most prominent wineries in Austria. The family-owned winery has been in the hands of Alwin Jurtschitsch and his wife, Stefanie Hasselbach, for more than ten years. Alwin and Stef are leaders of the natural wine movement in the Kamptal - and happen to have the oldest winery in the area, dating back to the sixteenth century. Open top maceration creates an oxidative character that merits drinking over a course of several days. Yellow-straw color with a cloudy appearance; aromas of yeast, hops, and an undertone of apples and pear. Medium bodied with lemon citrus, wet stone, and wheat beer characteristics and a dry, long finish with a soft tannic structure.
Food pairings: apple salad, goat cheese, fried foods, nuts, sausage and onion, oysters, pork, Thai food, etc.
