Grape: 100% Poulsard
Region: France> Jura> Arbois
Note: Organic, indigenous yeast, neutral oak aged (18 months), no-finning. The best winemakers, who emigrated from Holland to the Macon region in 1990 to work with the legendary Jean-Marie Guffens.
Arbois, an appellation in Jura’s northern section and the main location of Rijckaert’s single-vineyard sites. They mostly face eastward and enjoy a mixture of gravelly limestone and grey marl soils. The vines, on average, are 30-35 years old and yields are restrained.
Light brickish-red color with aromas of five spice, clay, and cherry wood. Silky texture upfront on the palate with very fine integrated tannins. Excellent acid/ alcohol balance with notes of mineral clay, cherry, cinnamon, and clove.
“Consumers should flock to Jean Rijckaert’s (pronounced “ray-cart”) wines for the incredible combination of quality and value they deliver.” – Wine Advocate.
Food pairing: Grilled salmon, red curry, curried chicken, herb roasted chicken, duck, mild cheese, etc.
