Grape: Brunello (Sangiovese Grosso). Region: Italy> Tuscany> Montalcino. Notes: Organic & Biodynamic, vegan-friendly.
Description: The Loacker family hails from Bolzano, in the Alto Adige. Their winery there, Weingut Loacker, became the first winery in Italy to farm biodynamically in 1979. In 1995 they took over Corte Pavone in Montalcino, which they also farm biodynamically. These two properties, along with Tenuta Valdifalco in southern Tuscany, are in the charge of the three Loacker brothers, Rainer, Hayo, and Franz Josef, with Hayo being the winemaker. His Rosso di Montalcino shows earthy aromas of forest floor, tilled soil, leather, and wild berries and the vibrant, medium-bodied palate offers juicy black cherry and pipe tobacco alongside fine-grained tannins and racy acidity.
Food Pairing: Lamb, Veal, beef stews, braised dishes and casseroles, red or brown sauces, etc.
