Grape: 100% Merlot
Region: USA> California> Lodi AVA.
Notes: Est. 1895, Continuous family farming for over six generations.
Description: The Peirano Estate Merlot is produced from 6 different clones or sub-varieties of Merlot grown on the estate. Including two rare French clones (#181 and #314) and one rare Italian clone #9. Aged in French oak barrels, 20% new oak.
Soft, fleshy ruby rose color with aromas of eucalyptus, red fruit, and a hint of rubber. This is not a big, heavy fruit bomb, the palate is lean, medium-bodied with upfront restrained Cherry and Black raspberry notes. With aeration the tannins become slightly gripping (light-medium). Perfectly balanced acid and alcohol.
Food Pairings: Lamb, full-flavored cheeses, roasted Duck, onions, roasted pork loin, grilled steaks, Filet Mignon, tomato based meat sauces, etc.
