Grapes: 80% Tempranillo, 20% Viura.
Region: Spain> Rioja Alavesa> Vinaspre.
Notes: Organic grapes, used French oak.
Description: This is not a typical oaky Rioja that you know. Pretty black cherry and red berry aromas with a hint of orange peel and rosemary, this elegant red wine exhibits great balance and minerality. It contains 20% of Viura white grape just like old fashioned Rioja did to bring out the refinement and complexity. The winery is situated at the foothills of the Sierra Cantabria Mountain, which are influenced by the Atlantic Ocean. He farms organically and trains vines to goblets (classic pruning style that machines can’t handle). Wines are aged in used French barrels. He also ignores the defined classification system (joven, crianza, reserva…) for his wines.
