In 2002, Elisabetta Gnudi Angelini purchased the Altesino winery and is committed to maintaing Altesino’s hard-earned reputation.
Although this wine was just released in 2018, it is approachable and delicious before and after decanting. Beautiful garnet color and translucent at the center. The first glass after opening shows aromas of garrigue and eucalyptus. Palate displays balanced acid/ alcohol revealing wonderul balsamic, rosemary, and fennel layered with currants and black cherry. Tannins are well integrated and polished throughout the length of the palate.
After 24 hours of decanting in the bottle, the wine opens with aromas of dried cherry, tobacco, and violets. Palate displays wild berry fruit, fine balsamic and velvety tannins. This is a show-stopper.
Food Pairings: Aged Italian cheese, roasted duck, osso bucco (Veal shank), pot roasts, barbecue, and beef stew, lamb chops, venision, etc.
