This batch of Mezcal was distilled from 25 mature (12-15 year old) Sierra Negra Agave 5,700 feet above sea level in the mountains of Santa Catarina Albarradas, Oaxaca. Alberto Martinez, the master distiller and his son-in-law cooked the Sierra Negra hearts with Encino oak in an underground conical pit for eight days. Also double distilled in small clay pots after fermentation. Cinco Sentidos (five senses) originated as the house spirit in Oaxaca's acclaimed restaurant, El Destilado.
This mezcal has amazing aromas with a smooth, viscous texture. Subtle notes of roasted agave and spice. Over two-thirds of the mezcal being sold internationally is from the Espadin Agave. The Sierra Negra plant will give you an unique and ultra-premium experience.
